Interfaith Hospitality Network
“Host Congregations open their doors one week at time, four times a year, (four of our congregations host twice a year for two weeks at a time), to house, feed, and provide unconditional support to families experiencing homelessness.”
When a family loses their housing, it is common for fathers to be separated from their families or older boys to be separated from their mothers. We believe families should stay together during one of the most stressful and difficult times in their lives.
In response, Family Promise of Baldwin County created temporary housing through a network of interfaith congregations. These ‘Host Congregations’ open their doors one week at a time, four times a year, (four of our congregations host twice a year for two weeks at a time) to house, feed, and provide unconditional support to families experiencing homelessness. Without their support, families with children would be left with no other options for emergency shelter in Baldwin County.
Our network connects people in crisis with people who care. For more information about ways your congregation or group can help families through our network, please contact our office at 251-947-5641. We have presentations and speakers that can fit into any time frame, event, or location.
An Introduction to an Interfaith Hospitality Network
A volunteer said this about being an overnight host during Christmas time, “This experience was a blessing. If you are asked to serve, don’t miss it. Thank you, Family Promise, for giving me the opportunity to serve others as God has commanded us to do.” - Lucy Cunningham, member of Daphne United Methodist Church.
Family Promise of Baldwin County exists because of the commitment and generosity of these Baldwin County congregations:
